Shaw Media approached Secret Location to build a page promoting the second season of the time travel science fiction drama Continuum. With Facebook, Twitter and Vine users were given the opportunity to effect the season finale. Likes, shares and retweets would determine the fate of that season.
The primary goal was to get fans engaged with the show. Over the span of the season new videos would roll out encouraging users to pick a side. @Liber8Now, a fictional terrorist group aimed at separating corporations and government or @1FutureOurWay, aimed at maintaining the status quo.
I created a grid system that would be both random and familiar. Each visit to the page was supposed to feel unique. Videos would appear in the same order, but their location, size and focus would be slightly different each time. The mobile version would collapse the grid into a more traditional video gallery.
To build for environments I have no control over. The page was hosted on the Showcase website, so it was important to connect with their team and build within their constraints. It was essential that the page be able to simply plug in to their existing structure.
